Legislation |
June 6, 2004
The past month culminates into our finest hour.
Since we began
our
long tedious journey we
could not have accomplished this alone
without the help of key Senators and
members of the House. |
|
 |
We've now reached the pinnacle of
success.
Governor Janet
Napolitano signed Bill HB 2348
into Law at
approx. 9AM. June 4, 2004.
We
still have many more
obstacles and mountains
to climb, but we should all
feel proud of this
major achievement. |
May 26, 2004
HB2348 passed the Arizona Senate on Friday the
19th of May, 2004.
It passed
the
Arizona House of Representatives Wednesday the
26th of May.
Congratulations to
everyone who worked so hard to get this Bill passed.
May 19, 2004
It is crucial that over
the next 3 days we all e-mail AND call Rep. Karen
Johnson and ask that she support
HB2348 requiring training for custody evaluators. (602-926-4467)
or
kjohnson@azleg.state.az.us
Please ask her to
provide protection to children and their parents who
are ordered by the
Courts to have
these evaluations and pay for them.
Tell her you own
story (Briefly!) and remember to address the
problems that this Bill fixes
-
* No Protection to Children
* No Consumer Protection
* No Statewide Standards for Evaluators
* No Statewide Minimum Qualifications or Training for Evaluators
Let her know
how much you've spent on Evaluators and Court costs
and what was missing
from your
evaluations that we hope would be
corrected through training requirements
of evaluators.
This week or next,
a conference committee will be assigned to form
a "Compromise" on this
Bill. We want
to make sure that the training
requirement stays in, that the curriculum
is developed by the DRC
(with our input)
and that Psychologists are NOT exempted from the
requirements.
Thanks for
all that you've been doing. If you've already e-mailed Rep.
Johnson,
please do so again.
This is CRUNCH TIME!!!
